Human Resources Director

Karen Turner joined the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) as its human resources director in June 2023. Turner has more than 25 years of Human Resources experience. Prior to joining AEA and AIDEA, she held HR leadership positions in healthcare and the public sector. Turner’s areas of expertise include employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, and total rewards.

Her professional designations include Human Resources Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

Turner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communication from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Master of Business Administration from the Alaska Pacific University.
