Cordova Electric Cooperative constructed a run-of-river hydroelectric project to serve Cordova. The project, located 5 miles north of Cordova, produces 3,500 MWh/yr and supplies the city with 12% of its total electric need. The plant includes a tunnel, diversion, and side intake with provisions to allow sluicing. It will displace the need for 12.8 million gallons of diesel fuel during its lifetime, displacing 255,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year.

This project was completed in 2011.

HumpbackCreek
The Humpback Creek Hydroelectric Project, operational in 2011, boosted diesel displacement in Cordova by over 292,000 gallons annually.
